Japan will always be one of our favourite countries to visit, so you can imagine how excited we were to receive an invitationΒ from Club Med Resorts to join Circus Week 2016 at Club Med Hokkaido in Japan. A ‘perfect storm of awesome’ combining two of our biggest loves: Japan and Circus!
We have put together footage of our circus-related time during the week into two videos: Circus Week 2016, and Flying Trapeze Show 2016 (the first one in Club Med Hokkaido since 2008!)

THE ROOM
We stayed inΒ a spaciousΒ Deluxe room with a nice little Japanese “living room” area. Β Usual hotel amenities were available as well as futons (traditional Japanese-style beds on tatami). Β We also found a warm welcome note fromΒ Chef de Village (General Manager) Ms. Jenny Lee.
FOOD & DRINKS
Club Med resorts are all-inclusive. Β This means all meals, snacks andΒ a large selection ofΒ alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are provided everyday. Β The buffet offers a mix of fantastic international selections: sushi and ramen, Chinese stir-frys and Thai curries, pastas and risottos, fine steaks and seafood, cold cuts and cheese, wine and sake… you name it! Β We alsoΒ consistentlyΒ managed to add 3,000 calories every meal from the remarkable array ofΒ dessertsΒ offered by their amazing Pastry Chef Khun Pom!!!
If you fancy having grilled fish and fermented beans “Natto” for breakfast then you won’t be disappointed either…
ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT
Club Med is renowned for the greatΒ rangeΒ of sports it offers its guests. Β We were here specifically for the circus week, so we spent all of our time participating inΒ circus classes. Β There is a great circus set up in Hokkaido with a full-sized trapeze rig, a bungy bounce, slackline, plenty of stilts and juggling stuff and aΒ full all weatherΒ indoor aerial set-up in the theatre. Outside of this special Circus WeekΒ daily circus classes are always available throughout the summer open season, as wellΒ asΒ a large variety of other recreational activities such as tennis, squash, golf, archery, and fitness. Β In the winter, Club Med Hokkaido reopens and there is a full range of activities available to take advantage of arguably the best powder snow in the world.
Unique to Club Med there are shows and performances in the theatre every night after dinner with dancing and socialising with the international “G.O Team” that staff the resort. Β There is a Mini Club facility that offers full days of activitiesΒ for the kids and enables parents to get some quality time toΒ themselves – something that seems to be a HUGE hit with families! Β Guests can also go onΒ excursions to nearby attractions or enjoy the onsite massage treatments at the Pirka Spa (atΒ additional cost).
#LOLTIP: An amazingΒ way to finish off a busyΒ day is with an “ofuro” (Japanese hot bath), definitely one of the bestΒ facilities here in Club Med Hokkaido!!!
ADDITIONAL INFO
If you come visit Club Med Hokkaido a few trips that are DEFINITELY worth making are the following:
β’ Go for some seriously good and authentic ramen at ROCKY RAMEN, only 5min drive from the resort.
β’ Experience an authentic “ONSEN” (Hot Mineral Spring) at KUTTARI ONSEN, about 20min from Club Med and available as an excursion from their Excursion desk.
Such a great time! Β HUGE thanks to Jenny Lee and her incredible G.O team for their boundless hospitality and Club Med Japan for the invitation!! Β We will be back!!!
