Tham Lod Cave Adventure | PAI – THAILAND
Tham Lod cave is a majestic βcave systemβ about 50km North West from Pai town.
As theΒ Nam Lang river flows through the cave, our detour inside was an alternation of walking and going on raft rides. With a length of 1.67km., the cave is filled with stalactites, stalagmites, bats β¦ and ancient teakwood coffins!
We spent nearly 3 hours in total in Tham Lod area and it was quite an experience!Β Check out our fun video from our day trip to Tham Lod with our local guide!
Tham Lod is opened for visitors all year round, but it is best to check the weather forecast before you go during the rainy season.Β Heavy rains can cause sudden flooding and the cave might be temporarily closed duty their safety protocol.
OUR TIPS
- Prepare 3 hoursΒ to get the full Tham Lod cave experience!
- Don’t wearΒ nice sports shoes there.Β They will get wet when you go on rafts (required) and there are bat poo’s in some areas of the cave!
- Best to leave the cave latest by 5pm and stop to watch the sunset at Kiew Lom viewpoint on the way back to Pai town.
- You will be required to have a local guide to take you inside the cave system.Β We recommend visitors to tip the guide as a good gesture (our guide was awesome!).
