Helicopter Tour Phuket by SKYDANCE | PHUKET – THAILAND

Being a semi-local of Phuket, normally we would have no urge to go on general Phuket sight-seeing tours.  However, this time we made an exception: we said yes to a sight-seeing tour…on a helicopter!!!

We arrived at SKYDANCE by Advance Aviation Phuket (near Phuket International Airport) early in the morning as we were scheduled as soon as they open (8.30am).  We were greeted by the staff who gave us a good 20-min safety briefing and then we were off!

Our helicopter sits 6 passengers plus the pilot who also gives tour narration.  Passengers can communicate with each other as well as with the pilot via BOSE noise-reduction headphones and voice-activated microphones.

There are a few tour options and we went for the “Phuket Scenic” tour with a 30-min flight time.  The tour started from the North of Phuket (where we took off) and went all the way down the East Coast of the island.  Once we got to the South of the island, we went around Promthep Cape and made our way back up to our starting point.

I believe everyone can figure out already that our photos really don’t do justice!  We’d say best for you to experience this yourself 🙂  Now, the most popular questions we get is…

“How much does it cost?”

There are a few tour options with different duration between 10 mins to 1 full hour, and the price also varies.  For the “Phuket Scenic” tour which we went on, the cost was THB 10,900 per seat for 30mins.

Do we think THB 10,900 per person is expensive?  Absolutely.  Is this a truly unique and unforgettable experience?  For us, it’s also “Absolutely” and it might also be worth it for a lot of people too, especially for a very special occasion.  We’d like to give a big thank you to the Tourism Authority of Thailand for giving us this opportunity to have this experience on your media trip.

OUR TIPS

• Make sure you do not arrive late–they do charge a decent amount for late arrivals.
• If you easily get motion-sickness, it might be worth taking some anti motion-sickness pills
• There aren’t really many places to get proper food in the area so make sure have eaten before getting to SKYDANCE (though they give complimentary fruit and soft drinks after the tour).
• Phones and cameras are allowed during the tour so make sure all your batteries are fully charged…and snap away! 😉
