An Overview of Upcycling The Oceans Thailand Project
Since the start of 2018, we have been involved withΒ Upcycling the Oceans Thailand, a project launched by theΒ Tourism Authority of ThailandΒ in collaboration withΒ ECOALFΒ foundation and PTT Global Chemical.
Brief Information About Upcycling The Oceans Thailand
A beautiful dive at Kingcruiser Wreck, Phuket, Thailand, with bloggers/divers on Upcycling The Oceans Thailand / Trash Hunter campaign.
This campaign encourages divers to collect underwater rubbish whilst enjoying their beautiful dives.Β There are numerous dive centres that have joined the campaign.Β Β Divers can borrow aΒ special bag for rubbish collection that straps around the waist and will receive “Diving Passports”Β to collect stamps for each dive they do to collect rubbish.Β The stamps can be used to claim discounts for their dives in the future–discounts that are honoured by many dive centres that have joined the campaign.

In addition, plasticΒ collected from the ocean gets upcycled into various items of more value such as fashionable bags, clothing and accessories, etc.
The Project's Locations
The project is being run at 3 of Thailand’s top beach and diving destinations: Koh Samet (Rayong), Phuket and Koh Samui-Koh Tao.
We were fortunate to be invited to the campaign’s official media launch in Phuket, as well as join on as divers atΒ several dive sites in RayongΒ and Phuket (and hopefully in Koh Samui and Koh Tao in the future!).
