Tokyo is one of the most popularΒ travel destinations in Asia. Β Being known as an upbeat and vibrant city, Tokyo is busy, chaotic and yet so organised. Β We have been there a few times before, and we were absolutely thrilled to have gone there again–even for only 2 nights.
We had a great time revisiting our favourite spots as well as exploring new (rather quirky) bars and restaurants. Β Have a look at our Tokyo trip video teaserΒ below, and stay tuned for upcoming blog posts on cool places such asΒ Alcatraz ER themed bar, Teppen Onna Dojo izakaya and more!
OUR FAVOURITE SPOTS IN TOKYO
OMOTESANDO STREET
A beautiful street whichΒ leads from the entrance of the Mejii Jingu shrine to Aoyama Dori, one of the main streets that stretche from Shibuya. Β Omotesando is known to be one of the world’sΒ foremost “architectural showcase” streets, and is home to many luxury brand and high-end international boutique flagship stores. Β This is a very pleasant street to wander around, even if you usually aren’t a big shopper!

SHIBUYA
Teppen Onna Dojo — a local Japanese Izalakaya
Popular among with Japanese and international visitors, this Izakaya restaurant was crowded and loudβin a good and fun way! Β We expected the food to be fantastic, and Teppen Onna Dojo did not fail to impress!
Visit our experience list aboutΒ Teppen Onna Dojo IzakayaΒ to get info on their opening hours, locations and our tips for when you go there!
And of course Shibuya Scrambled Crossing and it’s never ending upbeat energy.
Shibuya Scrambled Crossing is undoubtedly Tokyo’s most famous landmark. Β It comprises of … many crossings (we failed to count!) and apparently at peak time the total number of people crossing can get up to 2,500 (for each crossing!). This is a definitely must-experience when you visit Tokyo!
And Tokyo by night is vibrant as ever!

WHERE DID WE STAY?
Most people would agree thatΒ location is key when it comes to booking hotels! Β We only had 1.5 days and 2 nights in Tokyo, and we decided to go for the Shinagawa Prince Hotel. Β It’s situated among shops, bars and restaurants and most importantly a majorΒ railway station. Β From here, you can get on the main train lines and go straight to most popular sites of Tokyo.
An interesting (and rather unbelievable) fact about this hotel: there are 3,560 rooms! Β We were very impressed that, despite its ridiculous number of rooms and guests, the hotel is very clean, organised and well kept.Β Our room and itsΒ facilities are decent and the customer service system is second to none. Β This is definitely a good stay if you aren’t fussed about having high privacy or a large, luxurious room.
