Snowboarding in Vaujany | ALPE D’HUEZ – FRANCE
France has a large number of ski villagesΒ on its Alps, andΒ among those is Alpe D’Huez on the Central French Alps.Β Β We wanted to check out this ski area, so we decided to base in Vaujany, a small ski village right on the doorstop of the vast Alpe D’Huez.Β This unspoilt, uncommercialised village offers stunning scenery, great snow condition (even in late March) butΒ is much less crowded compared toΒ the bigger resort.
This was how Alpe D’Huez looked in late March.Β Not so bad right?

There are plenty of hotels, short-let serviced apartments and chalets for rentals.Β We stayed at the brand new Odalys Residence Le Crystal Blanc, a greatΒ apartment residence situated in the heart of the ski resort.
For more information aboutΒ Odalys Residence Le Crystal Blanc, click here.
The apartment has all the facilities you need–a full kitchenette, laundry facilities (extra charge), wifi, fitness, indoor heated pool, ski lockers, etc.Β And guess what–it is only 500m. from the gondola!
Little Vaujany Village
Every morning we would get on this gondola from Vaujany ski village to Vaujany ski area, and we could easy get to Alpe D’Huez in no time!
Great piste without the crowds!
Alpe D’Huez
TheΒ Pic BlancΒ is the highest point of the ski area with the altitude of 3,300m above sea level.Β Skiiers / boarders can take the Pic Blanc gondola up there if the weather condition allows.
One of the reasons which makes Alph D’Huez a popular ski area is the fact that it has one of Europe’s longest black pistes “La Sarenne“.Β It stretches for 16km, starting from Pic Blanc and goes all the way down to the bottom of the ski range (this piste is not for beginners).
It is possible for visitors based in Vaujany to go up to the Pic Blanc and ski/board down La Sarenne in one afternoon.Β We did it, really enjoyed it and would recommend anyone to do the same!
