Flow Surfing at Surf House | PHUKET – THAILAND
If you like or want to try surfing in the ocean then you should also try flow surfing.Β Believe us, it is way more fun than you think!
You will be standing on a flow board onΒ artificial waves generated by powerful pumps which project aΒ 3-inchΒ layer of water at speeds ranging from 30Β to close to 50 km/hr.Β Here’s how it looks–watch this video!
Most likely on the first fewΒ go’s, you will be focusing on how not to fall on your face or you other precious parts of the body (which was what we were doing).Β For those who have never done this, do not worry.Β Β You will start with holding a rope on one end with an instructor on the other end.Β He will be helping you out.
With lots of practise you could eventually be doing some cool tricks like this girl who was 1/3 our age.Β (We can totally do stuff like this too, but we didn’t want to show off… really…)
Riders can join in a 1-hour session and take turns with others.Β Our session had more than 10 people which, we reckon, was more than usual, but we got to go 5 times which wasn’t too bad.Β However Surf House does accept private group booking too, which is ideal if you can get 10 people or more to surf it up with you!
All you need to bring is swimwear (NO ZIP ALLOWED), a towel and some big smiles!Β You can also go on boogie boards too if you want to try something different.Β ENJOY THE RIDE!Β 
There are a few Surf Houses / Flow Houses in Thailand, but there are 2 in Phuket (one on Kata and one on Patong Beach).
OUR TIPS
- Stretch as much as you can before you start (especially your neck).
- Women are highly recommended to be wearing a rash guard or a tight top which covers the top part of your torso.Β The speed of the water is very high and can actually blow your bikini off!
